We were delighted to host the closing ceremony of the EY Mentorship Program on 26th March, bringing together our mentees and mentors for a session of reflection, learning and growth.
The event kicked off with mentees breaking into groups to share their personal strengths and values. This activity not only helped them recognise their unique attributes but also emphasised the importance of effectively communicating these qualities. Understanding their strengths and values helps mentees gain a deeper sense of self-awareness, which is key to making informed decisions about their career paths and building confidence in their professional journeys.

Throughout the session, mentees were provided with valuable tips on building a strong professional profile, focusing on two main areas: LinkedIn and resume-building.
Building a Strong LinkedIn Profile
Mentees learned how to optimise their LinkedIn profiles for personal branding, ensuring they reflect both their strengths and industry relevance. They were guided on sharing and engaging with content that keeps them informed about the latest industry trends, which amplifies their voice in the professional community, with advice on seeking out new and relevant connections and engaging in meaningful professional interactions.

Enhancing Employability Through Resume Building
During the session, mentors guided the groups through the process of resume writing as an important step to enhance employability in their chosen career paths. Mentees were given the opportunity to apply what they had learnt during a hands-on resume-building exercise, where they crafted resumes that highlighted the essential skills and relevant experiences for the given job roles. This practical activity helped them learn to create resumes that are more targeted and impactful that would help them stand out to potential employers.

Interview Tips For Success
Practical tips on interview preparation were shared too, where mentees were encouraged to thoroughly research companies and roles, preparing answers that effectively showcase their skills and achievements. Mentees were also advised to prepare questions related to their resume, using the opportunity to highlight positive outcomes and achievements from both work and school experiences. It was also suggested for mentees to think of insightful questions to ask the interviewer to demonstrate a genuine interest in the company. During the interview itself, the focus should be on showcasing relevant skills and passion for the role, while remaining natural and authentic.
Dinner and Networking
The event concluded with dinner and an opportunity for networking, allowing mentees and mentors to engage further and discuss their experiences.

A heartfelt thank you to all the mentors who helped bring the mentorship program to a successful close! Your guidance has been invaluable to the participants and we look forward to seeing their continued growth and success in the future!
